Wolfgang Eckl was born in Nürnberg, Germany in 1964.

Wolfgang is a member of the technical staff in the RF Product Design Department of the GSM/UMTS Research and Development Community at Lucent Technologies in Nürnberg, Germany, where he is currently leading a research project dealing with reconfigurable mobile communication systems (RMS). His focus during the development of GSM basestations was on the transmitter design, especially the power amplifiers. His contributions covered new concepts for power control loops and calibration aspects. In these fields he filed several patents. He received an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen in Germany and Ph.D. from the University of Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, Germany. His master thesis dealt with new concepts of EMC Near Field scanning techniques. Dr. Eckl’s professional interests are RF-MEMS, power amplifiers and their linearization, wide band gap RF power devices and digital control algorithms.
